The port has undergone a major development as two new ferry berths, for vessels up to 240 meters, were built ready for service in January 2021, an investment of more than 100 million euro securing the future port operations.
Since 2008, Port of Ystad has strengthened its position as Sweden's third largest ferry passenger port. Port of Ystad is now also developing as a cruise port as the city of Ystad is well suited as cruise destination. The new berths make this possible.


Anders has served as Secretary General of Danish Society for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and has been recommended as fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects in London. He spends the majority of his time advising shipowners on Fleet Strategy, concept development and technical advisory on tender processes and negotiation of newbuilding projects.
Anders holds a master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and is a specialist in the field of RoRo and RoPax ferries, innovative concept designs, passenger flow, and on-board experience economy.

As the operational designer of the SmartPort ITS concept for Adaptive Recognition, Per bridges operations with emerging OCR and sensor technologies.
Today, he advises OEMs, system integrators, ports, and ferry operators on how to connect infrastructure, technology, and operational workflows
to deliver the next generation of automated, data-driven port operations.
Maddy's experience with ports projects includes leading software development, collaborating with stakeholders to develop core functionalities, and gathering feedback to ensure meaningful solutions are delivered. Her expertise extends to building integrations with third-party companies and maintaining SmartPort’s Azure-based infrastructure, ensuring the system runs smoothly behind the scenes while delivering impact where it counts.


During his time at Stena Line, Mikael realized that a booking system could be made much simpler by focusing on what is important and using modern technology.
Therefore, the project to build a proprietary booking system was started as a test at Mikael's consulting company.
When Mikael realized how good the proprietary system could become, the booking system was spun off into its own company.

Endre Løvaas has led the growth of several companies within the travel industry domain, whilst Mikael Egnér previously served as software architect at Stena Line for 17 years and also held the role as chief architect for 4 years before he went on to build a new industry standard for ferry reservation systems, removing legacy and operational constraints.
Together they will display by examples how modern boarding and booking technology bring significant effects to the ferry industry, through operational cost- and emission savings in parallel with improved customer experience and profitability.

E-Dea is a leading maritime software provider for ferry reservation systems and port automation. Marco has joined E-Dea 10 years ago as CCO, his role is to build international relationships and provide high-value, business-critical solutions to ferry companies and ports.
Marco has over 20 years of international experience in the maritime industry, including several years as Head of the Fast Ferry Division for a major Italian shipbuilder and in charge of all commercial aspects for an iconic player in the private yacht industry.


He has extensive experience of international maritime regulation, having represented Interferry at the IMO since 2008 and with the EU institutions since 2010. At the IMO, Johan attends all Committee meetings in person and also covers most of the sub-committees. At the EU level, he represents Interferry - primarily through consultation with the EU Commission and various stakeholder working groups – mainly covering safety, environment and operational issues.
In 2016, Johan set up Ferrysafe, an Interferry initiative focusing on ferry safety in countries not covered by SOLAS, noting the extensive need of capacity building in many African and South East Asian countries.


Alistair along with ex BBC journalist Nigel Thompson run the Full Ahead Podcast, telling stories about ships and shipping, which has a fast-growing worldwide listenership.




Over the course of her career, Katja has been responsible for managing relationships with numerous shipping companies worldwide. In 2018/2019, she temporarily left the maritime sector to gain experience in equity portfolio management and financial modeling at KfW IPEX-Bank. For the past five years, she has focused on Nordic clients as a relationship manager, responsible for the origination and structuring of new projects. Her core clients are Nordic ferry operators.
In her many years of experience, Katja has gained profound expertise in both the financial and technical aspects of various (sub)sectors within the maritime industry. She holds a Master of Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

Before Roman became the Managing Owner of Wilhelm Borchert GmbH in May 2010, he worked as a Senior Consultant and member of the management team for the strategic transport consultancy BMT Transport Solutions.
Since the early 2000s, Roman performed in a wide variety of consulting activities in the transport and logistics industry. In the context of his activities and duties as Senior Consultant, he was responsible for conducting market and business development studies as well as analyses for traffic, sales and profit forecasts, risk assessments, SWOT analyses and socio-economic analyses. During this period Roman gained an extensive insight and knowledge in the area of project management as well as public financing and investment support for the transport and infrastructure sector.
Roman is mainly engaged in Europe but having said that he has also organized as well as carried out a various number of interesting and challenging projects on an international level, such as projects in the Middle East, China, South East Asia, South Africa as well as in the United States of America. His core competences are to be found in the organization and management of complex consulting projects as well as groups with diverse interests and cultures, and in conducting surveys such as traffics forecast, SWOT, feasibility, market and competitive analyses as well as the strategic consulting regarding the development, implementation and financing projects in the transport, logistics and energy sector.
His main clientele consists of international port authorities, terminal operators and stevedoring companies, as well as shipowners, marine tramp and liner operators (RoRo/RoPax, container, bulk and cruise). Furthermore, Roman advises intermodal transport enterprises, freight forwarder and government institutions as well as private investment companies.
Roman is an expert regarding European funding and all related strategic and operational aspects. Amongst the EU funding sources are the Connecting Europe Facility, the EU Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe and LIFE. He further advised on a number of debt financing projects/instruments, including Blending instruments and the European Investment Bank (EIB) portfolio. In addition, the German and other national funding landscape are well-known by Roman. Since 2010, he was engaged in approx. 200 transport, energy and digitalization projects requesting EU and national financial contribution of in total over 2 billion Euro. The service portfolio provided usually covers the phases of the entire life cycle from defining the project concept, identifying the funding strategy, preparing the application, negotiating the funding contracts and supporting throughout the funding proetec implementation as well as making the best use of the project, incl. a revision and lessons learnt frfurther strategic and investment support.
